in the 60s and 70s many dinnerware companies hired studio potters to design for them. to me, the most notable is the work harrison mcintosh did for mikasa. pictured here is a few pieces in the "stone ridge" pattern. for those of you familar with harrison's studio work you will notice some similarities.
of course, i'm just nuts for this stuff and have been collecting it for a few years now. right after edith heath, it's my all time favorite.

I really like pottery like this and the colour is right up my alley :-)

RE: Harrison McIntosh for Mikasa 1977---I found a piece of this dinnerware in a box from an auction. It is shown in the picture at the top right--the deep bowl with the lip all around it and a lid. The bottom says "MiKasa, stone ridge, pk 001, rosewood, japan". Does anyone know if this piece was for soup or what? It seems odd, what with the lip and lid on it. Any info is appreciated.
Thank you,
Roberta
