creative stitchers - erica wilson, 1965

i just love this "delightful candid portrait of a bright eyed racoon enjoying an apple" embroidered by erica wilson with crewel wool on burlap. erica was a well known teacher, writer and designer whose enthusiasm helped lead the way for the revival of crewelwork in the 1960s.

I love how the photo is styled so that it looks like she does all her work on the floor, just so they can get the chair in the shot

Does anyone know if the animal pieces in the photo were ever made available as patterns or kits? They're so sweet!
