"for fall 1973 collins belongs..."
"...at formal teas. as always, collins handbags steal the show. even mrs. thompson's secret spiced tea recipe can't compete!"
"...at sorority alumnae meetings. beth carter, known in college as bluejean bethie, returns to make a double impression. she's graduated to DRESSES and delightful collins handbags!"
"...at the garden club's flower show. mrs. johnson worked for months on her roses. but when she won first place, she was a little surprised - because the ribbon went to her collins handbag instead!"
i am speechless. i had to hang on to this post for a few days until i could figure out exactly how to describe the way i feel when i look at these images. but just how to put it into words kept escaping me . it's like trying to describe the taste of chocolate to someone who has never had chocolate before - it's impossible. but let's just say this makes me laugh out loud (and of course that's along with and not at) and gives me a feeling of contentment.
i am very happy that this catalog made it's way into my hands so i can share some of it with you.
Oh. My. Goodness.
I can't think of anything else to say, either. Those captions could not be more delightful.

Aaaah! Is that the actual text from the catalogue?? I love it!
My grandmother had a bag like those. It had a roadrunner on it!

I collect Collins bags and have never seen a catalog other than on Ebay. Now I need to pursue one! These pics are fabulous.

Interesting to see how the Collins of Texas print media changed when the company was sold. Personally, I like the "Collins Girls" campaign but these are funny!

Just saw one of these on Etsy, immediately googled "Enid Collins" and found this post. AMAZING. I want to be the pixieish lady on the left in the second to last photo. I also want one of these bags.
