i love the work of mildred anderson. she lived and worked in greenwich village. from the looks of it the photographs in her books were taken in her apartment/studio. i would love to find out more about her but (other than used booksellers that carry her books) my google searches lead me to my blog.
papier mache crafts was published posthumously. it was mildred's dream to build a papier mache house. the back cover urges the reader to consider this: "with the incentive and wealth of valuable hints and tips in this volume -- maybe you can do it". i really do hope that someone did.
(pictured are covers of mildred anderson's books published by sterling publishing co., inc. new york, 1975, 1968 + 1965)
I checked two of the Mildred Anderson books out of our small-town public library numerous times. I was obsessed with the wig and hat on the cool hatstands. None of my attempts ever resembled the picture on the book cover, so I became a bit discouraged and made some fruit instead. Thanks for the great memories, Cathy!

I love the screen that is shown on the cover of the second book. I'll have to see if my library has these.
