weaving without a loom, 1966

weaving without a loom has been getting a lot of attention lately as it has been featured on many blogs - such as nothing is new. with a cover like that i was of course curious and had to track a copy down.

the arrival of my copy just happened to coincide with a weaving class that i took the other day. whenever i have been working a lot i find it relaxing to take a class and learn something i have never done before.

i think it would be safe to say that i have been bit by the weaving bug and am already shopping around for a loom and looking into other classes.

the dinner party cook book - a sunset book, 1962

i could go on and on about the color combo used on the front and back covers. in fact i think someone needs to write a book about just how fabulous hot pink, tomato red, yellow orange, rust, yellow ochre and maroon all work together so well.

i found this book in an antique mall in joshua tree the other day. i used to see it all the time at used book stores and keep passing it up. i'm glad i finally picked it up. the illustrations make me very happy.
