i could go on and on about the color combo used on the front and back covers. in fact i think someone needs to write a book about just how fabulous hot pink, tomato red, yellow orange, rust, yellow ochre and maroon all work together so well.
i found this book in an antique mall in joshua tree the other day. i used to see it all the time at used book stores and keep passing it up. i'm glad i finally picked it up. the illustrations make me very happy.
(from the dinner party cook book by the sunset editorial staff and "created in san francisco, california", 1962)
Love those colors. My house is decorated in them (with the addition of olive green for a little extra 70's feel).
Glad you're happy with your purchase!

The linocut (woodblock?) illustrations are fabulous! thanks for pointing out the color combination though, that is great.

welcome back to the blogOsphere. Are there any old-timey photos of food in that book? If so, I may need to borrow! :)

The Laurel's Kitchen cookbook (1987?) adopted the same style of illustration and I love them! This is groovy.

Those images totally transport me back to my youth! Thanks for the memories! By the way, I just purchased a box lot of vintage craft goodies including a flower loom. I'm excited to try making some blossoms this summer!

I have that cookbook too! The recipes are ... odd, but the images are timeless.
