a couple of weeks ago 2 of my favorite blogs made mention of a vintage craft book that i happened not to own. now i might be somewhat of an obsessive collector when it comes to certain things but i have never been what you might call a "completist". i'm perfectly comfortable with picking and choosing what i collect and in the case of vintage craft books i don't have to have everything that one particular author wrote.
for those of you who follow my blog you are probably aware that i am a huge fan of jean ray laury. jean is amazingly talented and a very nice lady (i was working on a project recently where i had the pleasure of chatting with her on the phone). jean (in some cases along with joyce aiken) has written many craft books and of course i have many of the ones from the 60s + 70s in my collection. i was very happy with what i had and never had the desire to pick up the total tote bag book - the cover just did not catch my interest.
but after seeing the images (especially of stan bitters and his tennis racket tote) from the book on the wary meyers blog post i went straight to ebay and hit that "buy it now" button. i have now officially moved over into the completist column.

When I saw the Wary Meyers post, I sent it to my mom. She took a lot of workshops from JRL in the '70s and early '80s. She has good taste!
