here are just a few examples of all of the wonderful things you will see at the ackerman show. i could have stood there and stared at evelyn's tapestries for hours (oh those color combinations!). and i had a total "fangirl moment" when i had the pleasure of being introduced to her - what an honor.

in 1949 jerome and evelyn ackerman attended an exibition for modern living which was organized by alexander girard. they left the exibition with a newfound way of thinking which inspired them to embark on a life of design. i think you too might have a similar experience if you are able to attend a marriage of craft and design: the work of evelyn and jerome ackerman which is currently on view at the craft and folk art museum in los angeles.

on my recent drive back from the bay area i thought that there was something rather beautiful about the orchards along the side of the freeway that were dying out. they reminded me of the work of ruth asawa.
